WHEN IT COMES TO WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY, EXPERIENCE MATTERS
Weddings move fast. Crazy fast. The lighting changes. Heck, the weather changes. Even the most well-planned weddings will throw a curve ball and you need a photographer who can keep up.

 

I've been photographing weddings since 2007 and I've experienced just about everything this profession can throw at me: I've photographed with the sun beating down on 110 degree days and taken portraits in the snow when it was barely above zero. I've photographed ceremonies with the rain pouring down like someone was holding a fire hose over my head. I've photographed wedding ceremonies in churches so dark you'd think they still only used candles. I've photographed on party buses, in limos, on the backs of wagons. I've photographed a couple's first dance in a bounce house. I've seen Gandalf officiate a ceremony.

In short, I'm like the insurance company of wedding photographers in that I've seen a thing or two.

I've done more than just photograph weddings. I've also sat in on meetings with Event Design to go over the full planning for the day and I've worked as a day-of coordinator for weddings. This means that I know how a wedding timeline is supposed to work from start to finish, and how to keep things running smoothly.

You know that sickening feeling when your phone bricks or your computer won't read your hard drive? We've all been there. The loss of your data can feel devastating. But what might be even worse is the thought of someone else losing your data, especially precious memories like photos.

I use cameras with dual memory card slots, so each photo is recorded twice - each to separate memory cards. If one fails, there's a backup. After each wedding, photos are downloaded onto an external hard drive which is is then backed up onto a cloud-based backup service that I pay monthly for. But even then, the memory cards from the camera are not cleared until I've finished and delivered the wedding (I have a LOT of memory cards). I pay for online storage for your finished gallery so that you not only have a beautiful place to view and share your wedding photos, but you can also download them as many times as you need to. So even if you have a computer crash, you'll still have access to your photos.

Is this over and above that I need to do? Yes. But I wouldn't have it any other way.

All of that stuff above wouldn't mean anything if I just viewed this as a paycheck. The fact of it is that I just absolutely love photographing weddings. I think this is the best job in the world and I'm genuinely excited for every couple I get to work with.
