I first “met” Melissa via Skype. Unorthodox for a meeting, but what are you gonna do when your client doesn’t live in Nebraska?
So our first conversation takes place sort of in my office. Now, you have to understand that my office is a little unusual. Wall to wall movies, drawings, movie props, toys. All of this in the background during our conversation.
I can’t be certain, but my nerd cred may have sold me to Melissa as much as any of my photography.
Regardless, I knew it was going to be fun to work with her.
The only snag was that it wouldn’t be until literally the day before the wedding. She and Isaac wouldn’t be in Lincoln together until then. That meant their engagement session was Friday and their wedding was Saturday. Ouch.
See, I have a thing about the engagement session.
I love that it gives me a chance to work with the couple. It puts them at ease in front of the camera. And the photos help them to trust me so when I ask them to do something insane like stand in the middle of the street during a storm, they know the results will be worth it.
Turns out, there were no worries.
We rocked the engagement session at the Sheldon Art Museum. Melissa and Isaac looked amazing (it doesn’t hurt when your couple looks kind of like Lois Lane and Clark Kent).
And then the next day we killed it despite a nasty storm slamming Lincoln like it was its job.
(And I wasn’t kidding about making them stand in the middle of the street…)
